During the HCI Methods class, we applied various HCI techniques to redesign a PDA interface. We used Contextual Inquiry and Modeling, GOMS/KLM, Heuristic Evaluation, Cognitive Walkthrough, and Thinkaloud usability tests to study the use of PIMs and possible improvements in the design of one, the venerable Palm IIIc. The executive summary provides an overview of the themes of our findings and how these inspired our redesign.
